This Privacy Policy explains how DST Global Innovative Nigeria Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the LegalBridge platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who We Are
LegalBridge is an AI-powered Nigerian legal assistant operated by DST Global Innovative Nigeria Ltd, a company duly incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
LegalBridge provides legal information, document assistance, and lawyer connection services. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal representation or professional legal advice.
Section 02
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account Information — Full name, email address, and password (encrypted) provided during registration
- Profile Information — User type (Lawyer, Individual, Student, etc.), state, specialization, years of experience, and any bio you provide
- Chat & Case Data — Messages you send to LegalBridge AI, case titles, and conversation history
- Device & Usage Data — Browser type, device type, pages visited, and general usage patterns
- Document Uploads — Images or files you upload for document scanning
- Payment Information — Handled securely by Paystack; we do not store card details
⚠️ Important — AI Processing
Your messages are processed by AI models (Claude by Anthropic and Gemini by Google) to generate responses. By using LegalBridge, you consent to your messages being processed by these third-party AI systems. Do not share highly sensitive personal information such as NIN, BVN, or bank account numbers in chat.

How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and personalise LegalBridge AI responses based on your profile
- Save and retrieve your case history across sessions
- Match you with appropriate verified lawyers on the marketplace
- Process subscription payments and manage your account
- Improve LegalBridge's accuracy and performance
- Send important service updates and legal notices
- Comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations
Section 04
How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider with enterprise-grade security including:
- End-to-end encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Encryption at rest for all stored data
- Row-level security policies — you can only access your own data
- Automatic backups
Your data is stored on servers within secure data centres. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure.

Data Sharing & Third Parties
We never sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- AI Providers — Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini) process your messages to generate AI responses
- Payment Processing — Paystack processes payments securely under their own privacy policy
- Lawyers — Only the information you choose to share when contacting a lawyer through our marketplace
- Legal Requirements — If required by Nigerian law, court order, or lawful authority
🔒 We Do Not Sell Your Data
DST Global Innovative Nigeria Ltd does not and will never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
Section 06
Your Rights Under Nigerian Law
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access — Request a copy of your personal data we hold
- Right to Rectification — Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to Erasure — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Right to Data Portability — Export your chat history and data
- Right to Object — Object to certain processing of your data
- Right to Withdraw Consent — Withdraw consent at any time by closing your account

Section 07
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile and personal information will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- Your chat history and case data will be permanently deleted
- Anonymised usage statistics may be retained for platform improvement
- Financial records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Nigerian tax law

Cookies & Tracking
LegalBridge uses minimal cookies and local storage for:
- Keeping you logged in between sessions (authentication token)
- Remembering your preferences (colour mode, settings)
- Basic analytics to improve the platform
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts.

Children's Privacy
LegalBridge is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately at legal@legalbridge.ng.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of LegalBridge after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
